What are Lady Bugs?
Ladybug species are classified into two types: native and non-native. The convergent ladybug (Hippodamia convergens) is the most common native ladybug found in Doha, Qatar and the Middle East Region. There are very few native ladybug species surviving since they have been mostly supplanted by non-native species such as the Asian lady beetle. The Asian lady beetle (Harmonia axyridis) is significantly more aggressive than the convergent ladybug and can be discovered in homes through small cracks, vents, or other openings that have gone unnoticed.
Types of Lady Bugs
There are about 5,000 different species of ladybugs in the world, they are also known as lady beetles.
Risks Associated with Lady Bugs
Allergic Reactions
The ladybugs have proteins present in their bodies that can cause breathing and swelling of the lips and airways
Property Damage
In large numbers, ladybugs are recognized as persistent pests that can become a nuisance if they breach the windows and walls of your home. Sometimes their secretions can stain walls, rugs, and upholstery.
Fast-Paced Reproduction
The females lay eggs in bunches of about 5-50, on the undersides of leaves to protect them from flying predators and the weather. They lay eggs many times per season; a female lays about 1,000 eggs in her lifetime.

What QPCS does
The easiest way to prevent ladybugs and Asian ladybeetles from invading your home or business is to ensure there are no cracks for them to enter through. QPCS will take action on caulking over cracks and crevices in the siding, windows, and doorways of your home. Replace roof tiles or shingles that have become loose or damaged. Check over pipes that reach outside the building, and ensure the seal is tight. Make sure all the windows and doors fit tightly in their frames. If you like to leave the door open to catch a breeze, it may be worth investing in screens to prevent insects from flying inside.
