What are Hornets?
Hornets are sometimes mistaken for bees or other forms of wasps. Hornets, like many bee and wasp relatives, have yellow-orange and black stripes. According to exterminators, hornets are less aggressive than most other wasp genera. If you’ve been stung by a hornet, you’ll notice a few different traits. In contrast to bees, hornets and other wasps may strike you repeatedly without pausing. Hornets’ stingers are not dislodged after an assault. Hornet venom is more deadly than that of other wasps, hence their sting is more severe.
Types of Hornets
Hornets are exotic insect pests. A group of 20 species occurring naturally only in Asia, Europe, and Africa.
Risks Associated with Hornets
Painful Stings
When wasps, yellow jackets, bees, and hornets feel threatened, they’re known to sting. The stings are painful and may cause a mild or severe reaction.
Property Damage
Non-stinging carpenter bees will excavate tunnels to use as nests. They make themselves at home in decks, siding, porches, and eaves.
Allergic Reactions
Depending on the person and their allergies, they may develop mild to deadly allergic reactions to stinging insects after being stung.
Swarms
When stinging pests swarm, the result is a mass of flying pests that are ready to protect their home at all costs.
