What are Fleas?
Fleas are small insects that survive by attaching themselves to birds and mammals in forested doas. Fleas are present in about 2,500 distinct species throughout the world. Fleas are parasites that feed on the blood of their hosts. These wingless insects develop in four stages: egg, larva, pupa, and adult. Fleas may adjust to changing conditions by speeding up or slowing down the transition to the next stage. Adult female fleas deposit an average of 20 eggs each day, but in a perfect setting, they may lay up to 50.

Risks Associated with Fleas
Fleas Bites
Flea bites result in red spots that often are surrounded by reddened haloes. They are extremely itchy and may cause discomfort.
Pets Bringing Fleas into the Home
Pets transfer fleas to the beds and furniture where they sleep, so if you’re cuddling with your pet, you may be bringing fleas into your own bedding.
Flea Infested Carpets and Furniture
Fleas lay up to 50 eggs per day on your pets, and as they move around indoors, the eggs spread, and fleas prefer carpeting and upholstered furniture.
