What are Carpenter Ants?
Carpenter ants are black or dark brown insects that range in size from ¼” to ½” in length. Carpenter ants construct their nests by digging wood. Carpenter ants drill these holes in wood and leave behind what seems to be wood shavings or sawdust. Queen carpenter ants have wings and may resemble termites, but they are much bigger and have different-shaped wings and antennae.
Carpenter ants may be a source of annoyance as well as major property damage. Carpenter ants, according to exterminators, can develop their nests and inflict structural damage to your property if left unchecked.
